Microsoft have just started pushing their new Tag service - basically it enables you to put a colourful barcode on anything (print or web) and a viewer can then point their MS Mobile driven cameraphone at it using a special (small api) and it will then take them to a webpage, download a vCard, get directions etc. I think it is pretty cool, only downside is having to install api (and possible compatibility issues e.g. iPhone, Blackberry etc). http://www.microsoft.com/tag/ Any comments?
UPDATE: just read the FAQs and there is support for iPhone, Blackberry, Symbian S60 and J2ME so seems pretty comprehensive coverage of phone formats. I say a big thumbs-up for this. (A colleague tells me that similar systems have been developed in the past, even as long ago as ten years!).
